As we are getting closer to the start of the 2011 NFL regular season, I’m going to be taking a look around the internet to various news sites and blogs to see what is being reported on teams in each division. We start tonight with the AFC East.
New England Patriots–
Greg Knopping of the PatsPulpit on the SB Nation reports that New England has re-signed OL Mike Berry and the team has returned Shane Vereen to the practice field. Vereen is going to face some stiff competion in the Patriots backfield after I’ve watched Stevan Ridley in the first two weeks.
Boston.com is reporting this afternoon that New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan is suffering from Bill Belichick envy. In an upcoming NFL Network interview with Michael Irvin, Ryan says, “You know, I can put my resume out there, stats, with anybody that’s coached in this league. And that’s a fact. Defensively, that’s a fact. But, you know, I don’t need any credit. I just want to win. I want what Bill Belichick’s got. I think Bill Belichick is the best coach in this game. I don’t even think it’s close. But I’m trying, there. But I know one thing – and he knows – that I’m going to compete with him every time we play them. You know, if it ever comes down to just me versus him, we’re going to come out on the short end of the stick. But when it’s about us, and it’s about our football team versus his football team, that’s where I have even more confidence.”
BuffaloRumblings.com is reporting this afternoon that the Bills have inked a deal with LB Kirk Morrison, who was replaced in Jacksonville by former Bills LB Paul Posluszny. The site is also reporting that the Bills first-round draft choice, Marcell Dareus left practice this afternoon on crutches.
BuffaloLowDown.com has an exclusive interview with Michael Jasper, a great read indeed. A very nice interview with the big man by Zachery Miner.
New York Jets–
Ganggreennation.com is reporting on the potential back injury for WR Plaxico Burress.
Former fellow Fanball writer Joe Caporoso covers the Jets like no one’s business with his site, TurnontheJets.com. Joe breaks down the first two weeks of preseason and which players look ready to shine in 2011.
The Palm Beach Post writers are scratching their heads as well over the confusing signing of Larry Johnson. They invite readers to vote on whether or not the Dolphins have improved their running game.
