Rookie QB Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers will enter the Georgia Dome this Sunday to take on divisional their divisional opponent, the Atlanta Falcons. Despite being a team which has several holes at key positions, Cam Newton has kept this team in the mix after five weeks and the Panthers have not lost a game by more than seven points this season.

Cam Newton, which is on pace to shatter the rookie single-season passing record as well as the all-time single season passing record set my Dan Marino in 1984, will be matched up against an Atlanta Falcons defensive secondary which is susceptible to the deep ball. Newton’s mobility along with his ability to pull up and throw the ball 70 yards downfield, creates unique issues for opposing defenses.

Cam Newton returns to Atlanta this weekend and when asked about being bombarded with requests from family and friends for tickets to the game this Sunday, Newton told reporters that he told people asking for tickets, “Stub Hub”.

Jaxon from the Cat Scratch Reader offers up an interesting article for those of us who play fantasy football. He pontificates as to what you’d offer up now for Cam Newton in fantasy trades. Jaxon pens a column about being in a keeper league and I think Newton is going to be a top fantasy pick in 2013 if the Panthers continue to develop.

Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer penned a blog post this afternoon stating that Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith is not expecting or looking for an apology on the hit he received from Saints DB Roman Harper last Sunday. Harper was fined $15,000 for the late hit on Smith who was standing in the endzone, clearly scoring a touchdown.
