Philly.com is reporting this morning that the Philadelphia Eagles will be without WR DeSean Jackson this afternoon when they host the Arizona Cardinals. According to the paper, Jackson was late to a meeting yesterday and was informed yesterday that he would not dress for today’s game.
Jackson has expressed dissatisfaction with the Eagles franchise this year and the lack of receiving a new contract offer. Jackson has not been the same dynamic receiver on the field this season for the Eagles. While he does lead the Eagles in average yard per reception, (17.3), Jackson has only 29 receptions for 503 yards in 58 targets. Jackson has only score two touchdowns this season.
Jackson made a name for himself on the Eagles team as being an electric punt returner but his return game has struggled as well this season. Jackson has only 9 punt returns this season for a 3.7 return yardage average.
The Philadelphia Eagles are desperately trying to cling on to post season hopes with a 3-5 record, positioned in third place in the NFC East behind the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys.
EDIT- Albert Breer of the NFL Network is now reporting that DeSean Jackson wasn’t late to the meeting yesterday, but skipped the meeting altogether.
