The Detroit Lions are finally playing a relevant Thanksgiving Day NFL game for the first time in years and they are hoping that history repeats itself when they take on the Green Bay Packers. The last time the Green Bay Packers started the season with a 10-0 record was 1962, a championship season. The Green Bay Packers suffered their first loss of the 1962 season on Thanksgiving Day at the hands of the Detroit Lions.

I believe that not only history will be on the Detroit Lions side. This is a divisional game, a nationally televised game and the Packers are on a short week. The San Diego Chargers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers demonstrated that you can throw the ball on the Green Bay Packers defense which is ranked 31st against the pass.

Green Bay QB Aaron Rodgers is on a record setting pace this season and is seeming throwing the football at will this year, but Lions QB Matthew Stafford is finding success on the field as well. Detroit is averaging 37 points per game in their wins this season, and 40 points in their home wins this season. The Lions offense can hang with the high powered Green Bay Packers offense. Stafford threw for 5 touchdowns last Sunday in yet another comeback win over the Carolina Panthers.

The Vegas line on this contest has the Green Bay Packers giving 6.5 points to the Detroit Lions with an over/under of 56 points. I love the Lions in this game as the nearly touchdown home underdog. Take the Lions and the points and the over, you could see over 70 points scored in this game.

Game Prediction- Detroit Lions 37 Green Bay 35
