NFL football fans know that the Indianapolis Colts are a bad team, but how bad? The Vegas line according to,  the New England Patriots games Sunday hosting the Indianapolis Colts has opened with the Colts getting 21 points. 21 points! The Over/Under on the game is set at 49 and the Patriots are a 21 point favorite.

The New England Patriots are averaging 30 points per game on offense while surrendering 21. The Indianapolis Colts on the other hand have really struggled offensively putting up 13 points per game on average and yielding nearly 30 per game.

While this line is exceptionally large, it’s not the largest line in NFL history post-merger and not including an expansion team. Ironically the largest line in NFL history also includes the New England Patriots. Nearly four years ago, during the potent offense of the 2007 unbeaten Patriots team, New England took on the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles opened as a 23 1/2 point underdog playing at Gillette Stadium.

The outcome of that game? The Patriots won 31-28, failing to cover the crazy spread. It remains to be see if the Patriots will cover in this upcoming game, but I don’t know if I would bet against them. But 21 points?
