On Sunday, the Arizona Cardinals will travel to take on the St. Louis Rams in a battle between two of the more disappointing teams in the NFL this season. The St. Louis Rams were the popular pick to win the NFC West this season, but they have struggled this season while the Arizona Cardinals thought they had solved their quarterback issues with the addition of Kevin Kolb but will finish the season with more questions at the position.
The Rams are struggling on offense, scoring just an average of 12 points per game while surrendering over 24 per game. Second-year QB Sam Bradford has only thrown for five touchdowns this season and has regressed significantly after a stellar rookie campaign. The strength of the Rams team last season was an underrated defense, but this season the Rams find themselves ranked 32nd in the league against the run allowing nearly 150 yards per game on the ground.
It was widely believed that the Rams would struggle at the start of the season based on a brutal first half schedule, and they would rebound in the second half as divisional play started. The Rams have not rebounded and this game against the Cardinals appears to be the best chance to win one of their remaining home games on the schedule moving forward.
The Arizona Cardinals have had to deal with their own woes this season. Statistically, the Cardinals are ranked near the bottom of every category in the league. After surrendering what now appears to be a king’s ransom for Kevin Kolb, the Cardinals look as if they have made a significant error in judgement. Kolb has struggled under center and actually leads the NFL in the most sacks per passing attempt.
Kolb has missed the last three games while dealing with a foot injury and several reports suggest that he could be available on Sunday against the Rams.
Arizona +2.5 O/U 39.5
I really don’t like this game from a betting standpoint, both teams are horrible. I do like the under in this game though. Take the Cardinals and the points.
