After losing RB DeMarco Murray for the remainder of the season, the Dallas Cowboys moved on Tuesday to sign veteran RB Sammie Morris but also announced that RB Felix Jones will receive a “big workload”. Jones really has no other option than to shoulder a big load because other than Morris, who has not played football this season, he is the only running back on the roster.
Jerry Jones was a guest on KRLD- The Fan and spoke about Felix Jones yesterday. “He knows the offense, and his ability to block and do the kind of things away from the ball, not just as a running back, that can be productive running”.
Jones added when asked about Jones shouldering an increased workload, “I think he can be. That was a tough defense we were running against the other day and he showed in that game that he can carry the load. He’s a back that gives us a chance any time he has the ball in his hands and he’ll have a big workload”.
Jones should have a big night on Saturday when the Cowboys take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Buccaneers defense has been abysmal this year and are allowing nearly 140 yards per game on the ground.
