The Tennessee Titans have now won three of their last four contests and remain very much alive in the AFC playoff hunt thanks to RB Chris Johnson. The Tennessee Titans defeated the Buffalo Bills yesterday and now find themselves with a 7-5 record and the number seven seed in the AFC with three division games remaining on the schedule.

The late season resurgence can be placed at the feet of RB Chris Johnson. Johnson had a well documented holdout in training camp and was finally offered a new contract. After finally getting paid, Johnson struggled on the field with everyone questioning whether or not he was not in shape or simply wasn’t playing as hard after receiving the new high-dollar contract.

The old Chris Johnson has returned over the past few weeks. Johnson has eclipsed the century mark on the the ground in three of the last four contests. The Titans won each of those contests. In fact, in every game this season that the Titans feed the ball to Johnson 23 times or more, the Titans have recorded wins.

The running back has now logged 486 yards on the ground with three touchdowns in the last four games after posting just 366 yards and one score in the first eight games of the season. Granted the three 100-yard games have come against poor defenses, but the Titans have to be breathing easier seeing Johnson run like he has in years past.

Tennessee will have a tough matchup this week, having to host the red hot New Orleans Saints, but the Saints are average against the run and New Orleans plays differently away from the dome. The Saints have three losses on the season, all on the road and struggled against the Jacksonville Jaguars for most of the game in week four.
