The Indianapolis Colts have released head coach Jim Caldwell and are searching for a replacement. Will that search for a new head coach include the possibility of hiring former Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel? According to the Indystar.com, the Colts are expected to at least have Tressel come in for an interview with the team.

The paper reports that Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay’s airplane flew to Sarasota, Florida on Friday morning, Tressel lives in the Florida city. The paper also cites several sources that say the Colts plan on interviewing Tressel. The Colts have already interviewed Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator Jim Gray and several reports indicate that Indianapolis plans on speaking to New Orleans Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael as well.

Tressel joined the Colts this season, his first in the NFL after resigning from the Ohio State University amid a scandal which led to sanctions being levied on the university by the NCAA. Tressel was the head coach of Ohio State for 10 seasons before leaving this season.

Tressel assumed the role of replay consultant for the Colts this season.
