Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek was unharmed after being involved in a car accident early this morning. Celek was a passenger and one of five persons riding in a 2012 Audi. The driver of the Audi slammed into a concrete barrier on the southbound ramp of I-95 to Packer Avenue. The driver of the vehicle, 35-year old Shawn Glyn was cited for driving under the influence. A police spokeperson reported that the driver was driving in excess of the speed limit, lost control of the vehicle and then struck the concrete wall.
Celek, 27, was the third leading receiver on the Eagles this season, recording 62 receptions for 811 yards and five touchdowns. Celek has appeared in every game for the Eagles in his five year career but according to reports, he played all 16 games this season with a sports hernia and a torn labrum. He is signed through the 2016 season with the Eagles and is scheduled to earn $1.9 million dollars in 2012.
