Free agent wide receiver Plaxico Burress is looking for a new team in 2012 and according to one journalist, he wants to become a member of the Philadelphia Eagles next season. Howard Eskin attended the Super Bowl last week. Eskin reported on Twitter that Peyton Manning would become a member of the Washington Redskins. Now, Eskin reports once again on Twitter, that WR Plaxico Burress wants to become a member of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Eskin tweeted, “Saw and talked to Plaxico Burress at Super Bowl and he told me he wants to play for Eagles. Badly!”
Burress will become a free agent on March 13th and will be one receiver in what is expected to be an incredibly deep free agent talent pool this season.Burress might be a good fit for the Eagles offense as they are in need of a big body for red zone work. The largest receiver on the Eagles roster currently is second-year WR Riley Cooper. Cooper has not developed as quickly as Philadelphia might have hoped.
Philadelphia might have other needs at receiver as well with the future of DeSean Jackson becoming cloudy.
In his return to the NFL, Burress logged 45 receptions for 612 yards with eight touchdowns for the New York Jets. The Jets struggled offensively in 2011.
