The New England Patriots, a team which has been quietly assembling quite the list of free agents while the rest of the league is focused on the large news of the last week, has now lost a key fixture of their offense. RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis has agreed to a new contract with the Cincinnati Bengals. Cincinnati was in need of a lead back after allowing RB Cedric Benson to test the free agent waters.

Green-Ellis, 27, has been an effective back in the New England Patriots system, but it remains to be seen whether or not he can be a featured back in another offensive set. The New York Jets were rumored to have interest in the “Law firm” in the past few days, so this signing comes as a little bit of a surprise.

Green-Ellis has logged 24 scores in the past two seasons in New England and in 510 career carries, he has never fumbled the football.
