The bad news continues for the New Orleans Saints. In the wake of the Gregg Williams “Bounty” scandal, news is starting to surface that QB Drew Brees is “livid” about the use of the franchise tag on him by the Saints organization. WIST-AM Radio in New Orleans this morning is reporting that Drew Brees will not sign the franchise tag deal.

It is totally plausible that the two sides can workout a long-term deal before the start of the season. Both sides have until July 15th to reach agreement on a new deal. If Drew Brees does not agree to a new deal or sign the franchise tag, Brees could holdout until a new deal is reached.

This is just about the last thing the Saints need to deal with right now. There is the possibility of the Saints organization facing the loss of draft picks, a possible partial suspension of head coach Sean Payton as well as the loss of wide receivers Marques Colston and Robert Meachem along with OG Carl Nicks. The club is working out veteran WR Randy Moss this afternoon.

QB Drew Brees was also in the news yesterday as former OL Kyle Turley called the signal caller out during an interview with Yahoo! Sports Radio when asked about the Gregg Williams “Bounty” scandal.

Turley told the radio hosts- “I would like to know personally what (Brees) knew about this bounty system because he’s not only in charge of the safety of his players in that locker room in New Orleans, he’s supposed to be in those meetings responsible for players across the league as it pertains to those types of situations. That’s what I would like to know. Where has the union been in all of this and that’s what really needs to be found out.’’

Yeah I would be livid too if I only made 17 million in one year. Tough life.
