Amid media scrutiny surrounding the New Orleans Saints this offseason, the franchise announced yesterday that they have re-signed K John Kasay. Kasay, 42, will be entering his 22nd season in the NFL and shows no sign of slowing down. In 2011, Kasay accounted for 147 points with the New Orleans Saints, converting 82.4% of his field goal attempts and 100% of his PATs.The 147 points is a career high for Kasay. Not only is the 147 points a career high for Kasay, it is a single season record for the New Orleans Saints.
Kasay spent the majority of his career with the Carolina Panthers, spending 15 seasons with the club and holds the Panthers record as the all-time scoring leader with 1,482 points. Kasay has a reputation as one of the league’s best long distance kickers, converting on 83 kicks of 50 or more yards during his career.
During his 20-year career, Brunell has appeared in 301 games, converted 461 field goals and posted a career field goal percentage of 81.9%.
