The San Diego Chargers and New Orleans Saints have turned to the basketball world to add athletic tight ends in Antonio Gates and Jimmy Graham, now the Oakland Raiders have followed the trend. The Oakland Raiders announced on Friday that they have signed Oral Roberts and more recently, Cal State Fullerton basketball player, Andre Hardy.

Hardy, 6′ 5″ 250 pounds, has not played football since high school but he does come from an NFL pedigree. His father, Andre, played for three seasons in the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks.

Hardy was named the Big West Conference Newcomer of the Year award while averaging 10.6 points per game and 8.5 rebounds in 16 games. He now becomes the fourth tight end on the Raiders roster heading into the 2012 season. Hardy joins David Ausberry, Richard Gordon and Brandon Myers.
