The Detroit Lions have endured a chaotic offseason with three players being arrested, but a player which figures to be a key player in the 2012 regular season has now suffered his second arrest this offseason. DT Nick Fairley was arrested early Sunday morning under charges of attempting to elude police officers and driving under the influence.
According to Fox10tv.com out of Mobile Alabama, Fairley was additionally charged with reckless driving, no proof of insurance and an open container violation at 1:00 am. This is now the second arrest for Fairley in Alabama in less than 7 weeks. Fairley was arrested on April 3rd on marijuana charges as well.
The Lions could now be heading into the 2012 season without the services of Fairley once again, this time as he will likely be slapped with a suspension from the NFL as a violation of the personal conduct code. Fairley had already been placed on the substance abuse league imposed program. Expect a suspension at some point in the 2012 season for the player which has struggled to be the impact player the Lions had hoped for after selecting him last year in the draft.
