The New England Patriots, already deeper than any team in the NFL at the tight end position with Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez, had added yet another tight end. Veteran Bo Scaife. Scaife, 31, has played six seasons for the Tennessee Titans, with his best season coming in 2008 when he recorded 561 receiving yards. Scaife was on the Cincinnati Bengals roster last season, but failed to record a reception.Earlier in the offseason, the Patriots added former Denver Broncos TE Daniel Fells.
Don’t look for Scaife to remain on the final 53-man roster however. Scaife was brought in as a body to play tight end while Rob Gronkowski and Daniel Fells are continuing to rehab from injuries. Scaife appeared to be out of shape and according to reports, was unable to finish practice for the Patriots.
Fantasy impact-None. The tight end position is deeper than at anytime in NFL history with multiple options around the league. Scaife is unlikely to land on a final 53-man roster of any team this season, and if he does because of injuries, he’ll not be an impact.
