Earlier this month, the New Orleans Saints and New England Patriots admitted the two teams have been in talks about holding a joint practice between the two teams prior to their preseason contest on August 9. Patriots head coach Bill Belichick admitted at that time that New England could explore the option of doing the same with another team this preseason. The Boston Herald is reporting that the other team the Patriots could be in talks with are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Tampa Bay plays the Patriots in preseason on August 24.
Tampa Bay rookie head coach Greg Schiano and Patriots head coach Bill Belichick have a strong relationship. Belichick actually called the Buccaneers front office to give Schiano a glowing recommendation for the head coaching position with the Buccaneers. Belichick’s son, Stephen played for Schiano last season at Rutgers as the team’s long snapper.
