The Tampa Bay Buccaneers just opened their 2012 training camp and the roster has already taken some twists and turns. WR Dezmon Briscoe was released outright amid reports that the receiver had failed conditioning drills. Briscoe was claimed off waivers by the Washington Redskins. Former second-round pick, DT Brian Price was traded to the Chicago Bears in exchange for a seventh-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. Now, the Buccaneers have sustained injuries to two players which could cause some depth issues for Tampa.

WR Arrelious Benn has reportedly suffered a sprained knee injury and will miss up to four weeks. One has to wonder if the loss of a month might jeopardize Benn’s ability to land on the final 53-man roster. Vincent Jackson and Mike Williams are projected as the team’s starting two receivers, although reports from offseason workouts have suggested that Preston Parker could challenge. The Buccaneers also have Sammie Stroughter on the roster and acquired for Rutgers WR Tiquan Underwood this spring.

ESPN is reporting this morning that CB E.J. Biggers has suffered a broken bone in his foot and will additionally miss time in training camp. Biggers figured to play a larger role with the Buccaneers this season
