The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are just days away from the opening of their training camp for the 2012 campaign. As it stands currently, three defenders are poised to start the pre-season on the physically unable to perform list for the Buccaneers. DE Da’Quan Bowers, DT Amobi Okoye and LB Adam Hayward will all start the training camp period on the PUP list.
Bowers, a second-round draft pick which joined the Buccaneers with a history of injury issues, is currently rehabbing from a torn Achilles tendon. His return to the Buccaneers this season during the regular season is doubtful at this point.
Okoye, acquired via free agency this offseason is recovering from knee surgery and has missed the team’s off-season camps. Veteran LB Adam Hayward is still recovering from a foot injury.
Players are allowed to return to the active roster at any time during the pre-season period, but if they start the regular season on the PUP list, they will be required to sit out for the first six weeks of the regular season before returning to the field.
The Buccaneers added several pieces to their offense this offseason, but Tampa has several questions surrounding the team on the defensive side of the ball.
