The first weekend of the NFL pre-season is underway, and here at the world headquarters of, we’ve got you covered. This being the first week of the exhibition season, the six games played tonight will not feature much playing time from the veteran players. However, since most games are now at the halftime portion on their contests, a few interesting story lines have emerged in the first games played of this week.

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones- Veteran Falcons WR Roddy White told reporters in June that he expected a smaller role in the Atlanta offense this season. It was just the first quarter, of the first Falcons pre-season game, but Julio Jones stepped up large with six receptions for over 100 yards and a score. Atlanta leads Baltimore 17-7 in the Georgia Dome at halftime.Jones is moving up my fantasy draft board.

Washington Redskin WR Pierre Garcon- Garcon appeared to be the favorite target of rookie QB Robert Griffin III early on against the Buffalo Bills. He recorded three catches for 58 yards and a touchdown. I like Garcon as a late round WR3 flex player this season.

Green Bay Packers ILB Desmond Bishop- Bishop was helped off the field after suffering a right leg injury. Monitor his situation if you plan on drafting the Packers team defense this season. Bishop led the Packers in tackles last season.

Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick- Vick was harassed in the pocket by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first quarter and then left the field after sustaining an injury on his passing hand. Vick hit his left hand on one of his lineman’s helmet on his follow through. As I have stated many times before, I am not high on Vick as a fantasy football quarterback because of his durability issues. Vick was removed from the game, no official word on his hand has been issued as of this time.

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning- Manning looked just fine to me in his limited action. He was removed after just one series, but the weather was horrible this evening in Chicago, as the kickoff of the game was delayed. If Manning can remain healthy, expect monster seasons from Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker.

The staff at Thepigskinreport will be watching all the NFL preseason games throughout the weekend. Stay tuned for more updates.
