The Houston Texans have lost a place kicker for the season. Rookie Randy Bullock will be lost for the 2012 season with after suffering a torn muscle in his groin. Bullock will now go onto the injured reserve list for the remainder of the 2012 season.
Head coach Gary Kubiak told reporters on Sunday that Bullock’s leg had been bothering him for several weeks but he played through his discomfort. He was embroiled in a battle with veteran kicker Shayne Graham for the starting job. Graham, 34, will now assume the kicking duties for the Texans.
In associated Texans news, Kubiak told reporters that WR Andre Johnson was “just fine” after leaving the Texans contest against the New Orleans Saints early. Johnson has struggled with injury issues in the past two seasons, but exited against the Saints after reports suggest he just had the wind knocked out of him. After the start of this year’s training camp, Johnson was taken off the field with what was described as a groin injury.
