NFL teams announced their first depth charts on Monday of the 2012 season and the running back situation for the Denver Broncos shows that RB Knowshon Moreno could be on his way out of Denver. Moreno is currently listed as the team’s fourth running back on the depth chart.

Willis McGahee has a firm grip on the starting role for the Broncos heading into this season. Lance Ball is listed as the team’s second-string back followed by third-round selection, Ronnie Hillman. Hillman has been battling hamstring issues this training camp but should emerge as the Broncos’ third down back this season.

Moreno is still rehabbing from an ACL injury and there is a chance he could start the season on the PUP list for the Broncos, if he remains on the team’s roster. Moreno has had an injury plagued two seasons, appearing in just 20 games in the last two seasons for the Broncos.

The former University of Georgia player only carried the ball 37 times through nine games last season before tearing his ACL, so there is a very strong possibility that the team could decide to move on from the former 12th overall pick in the 2009 draft.
