Just when some began to wonder if Charles had lost his explosion, he broke off a 91 yard TD run

This was supposed to be the game where it was determined just what type of season Jamaal Charles was going to have. 288 yards later and Charles now leads the league in rushing (323).

We all knew before the Kansas City Chiefs took the field, they had a chance to put up some points, simply because the New Orleans Saints don’t have a defense. Despite all that, I don’t think anyone predicted Charles would run for 233 yards, and catch 5 passes for 55 yards on top of that. What really got things going for Charles was his 91 yard sprint down the sidelines, it sparked the Chiefs comeback and every fans jaw dropped in amazement. What Charles did on that play was more than just put the team on his back, he answered the critics who were skeptical of if his old speed was back. It is official Jamaal Charles is back to the same explosive player he was before his torn ACL. While this game will revitalize the belief in Charles for Chiefs fans and fantasy owners, the question now is “what should I expect from Charles the rest of the way”.

While I don’t expect Charles to run for 200 yards a game, or even one more time the rest of this season, I am expecting big things for the rest of this year. Peyton Hillis was brought in for goal line work but failed, and while those carries will never fall into Charles lap, he will see more targets in the passing game without Hillis. Another reason I expect Charles to continue on his success, is because he really only had 1 bad game. In Week 1 he had to shake off the cobwebs, while Week 2 was just a case of the team falling behind and not feeding him the ball. While I don’t expect this Chiefs team to win more than 8 games, they should always keep the game in reach and treat Charles as their top weapon on offense. I think Jamaal Charles will finish the season rushing for over 1,200 yards with 10 total TD’s and he finishes as a Top 5 RB in Fantasy.
