Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch has been suffering back spasms this preseason and his status is uncertain for Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals. If Lynch is unable to go, rookie RB Robert Turbin will start in his place according to 710 ESPN Seattle. In deeper leagues, Turbin is worth owning this season.

I have watched every Seattle Seahawks preseason game this summer. I am extremely high on the Seahawks prospects this year. Yes, they are starting rookie QB Russell Wilson under center, but this is a team which plays in a week NFC West division (with the exception of San Francisco) and features a very solid defense.

Prior to the start of the regular season, I believed that Marshawn Lynch could be a candidate to receive a league suspension after his offseason legal issues. I had written a piece several weeks ago suggesting that Turbin should be a handcuff if you drafted Lynch as your RB1 on your fantasy team.

Seattle head coach Pete Carroll has told reporters over the past week that Lynch has been responding well to treatment, but his status is officially now uncertain according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

If Lynch is your RB1, I would scan the waiver wire to see if Turbin is available if you have no other viable options currently on your roster. I like Turbin. I like his running style and he physically is a beast. Turbin has been dubbed the “Sea Hulk” in Seattle. Arizona was ranked 21st against the run last season and with Russell Wilson making his first career start, expect a lot of the ground game for the Seahawks.

I would have no issues starting Turbin this week if Lynch is indeed unable to go.
