Atlanta Falcons RB Michael Turner was arrested early Tuesday morning following his team’s game on Monday night against the Denver Broncos. Turner was arrested for speeding and DUI. On Wednesday, Turner spoke with reporters and apologized for his arrest and said that expects to play this Sunday against the San Diego Chargers.

“I shouldn’t have been in this situation to begin with. I’ve got to learn from this”, Turner said. When asked about his chances of playing Sunday, he responded, “Nobody has told me I’m not playing, so I’m going to prepare like I am.”

If Turner does indeed play, he going to be running against a Chargers defense which is currently ranked first in the league overall against the run, allowing just 41 yards per game after two weeks. For fantasy owners, this might be the week to sit Turner. I did not like Turner in fantasy circles this season. In the preseason, he really started to show his age.

He is struggling at the start of this season, gaining just 74 total yards in the Falcons first two contests. The fact that Turner is 30 and the Falcons brought in a new offensive coordinator which features more downfield passes and screens than the power running game Atlanta employed in the past, were the contributing factors in my suggestion to pass on Turner this year. The Falcons announced during the offseason that they were planning to limit the number of carries Turner received in order to avoid another late season decrease in production that he has suffered from in the last two seasons.
