The Chicago Bears executed a series of roster moves on Friday in order to reach the NFL imposed deadline of having rosters set at the 53-man limit. Veteran journeyman QB Josh McCown was released as the team decided to enter the 2012 season with just two quarterbacks, Jay Cutler and Jason Campbell on the roster. The Bears also executed a trade with the Houston Texans sending FB Tyler Clutts to the Texans in exchange for CB Sherrick McManis. The move leaves the Bears without a fullback on their roster.

In addition to McCown, the team released four other vested veterans on Friday. These players do not hit the waiver wire and are free to sign with another franchise immediately. Those players include: LB Xavier Adibi, DE Chauncey Davis, WR Rashied Davis and CB Jonathan Wilhite.

The Bears can start to assemble their eight man practice squad starting at noon Saturday, September 1.

The players waived by the Chicago Bears-
