The San Diego Chargers met the league imposed deadline last night to reach the 53-man roster. After several moves, the Chargers roster is currently at 53 players. San Diego placed S Sean Cathouse on the injured reserve list. Veteran players, Jacques Cesaire, Anthony Davis, Mario Henderson, Jacob Hester and Nick Novak all had their contracts terminated. Being vested veterans, they do not have to clear waivers and are free to sign with another franchise immediately.
The following players were waived on Friday: Edwin Baker, Colin Baxter, Bront Bird, Charlie Bryant, Ricky Elmore, Daryl Gamble, Gregory Gatson, Logan Harrell, Arthur Hobbs, Jarrett Lee, Robert Malone, DeAndre Presley, Damik Scafe, Stephen Schilling, Kory Sperry and Mike Willie.
Once players clear through the waiver wire process, teams can start preparing their rosters for their eight man practice squads. Teams can start adding players to their practice squad rosters Saturday, September 1 at noon.
