The Tampa Bay Buccaneers continued adjusting their roster at the wide receiver position on Tuesday. Last week, the Buccaneers added WR Jordan Shipley to the roster, Shipley had been signed off waivers by Tampa Bay. He was released prior to the start of the regular season. This week, the Buccaneers released Shipley once again and brought in another veteran receiver to replace him.
The Buccaneers added veteran WR Roscoe Parrish to the roster on Tuesday afternoon. Parrish has spent seven seasons in the NFL but will likely be utilized more in the team’s return game than in a receiver role. Parrish has a 12.0 average on punt returns since 2005 and that ranks behind only Devin Hester’s 12.7 yards per return average as the best in the NFL.Parrish has three career punt returns for touchdowns in his career.
Shipley handled the punt return duties for Tampa Bay against Dallas but he struggled and had a fumble. Fumbles are not the way a player endears himself to head coach Greg Schiano. Preston Parker had been handling the return duties for the Buccaneers but struggled to hand on to the ball, leading to his eventual release by the club.
