Trent Richardson has been dealing with a rib injury for the last few weeks, but that shouldn’t deter him from playing this week when the Cleveland Browns host the San Diego Chargers. Richardson was limited this week in practice but according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter early this morning, Richardson will go this afternoon.
Schefter took to Twitter this morning to report, “Despite his rib injury, Browns running back Trent Richardson is expected to play today vs. San Diego.”
Even though Richardson will get the starting nod, fantasy owners should temper their expectations for him on the field this week. The Chargers run defense currently ranks second in the league, allowing just 71 yards per game on the ground. The Browns running attack has struggled as well, ranking 30th in the NFL with 79 yards per game.
There is also the possibility that Richardson could aggravate his rib injury during the game, giving way to Montario Hardesty. Don’t look for a big day from Richardson this afternoon.
