As if the Arizona Cardinals weren’t struggling enough at the RB position, they will now be without Ryan Williams for the rest of the season. Williams was placed on the IR Monday morning after it was announced he would undergo surgery to repair his shoulder. Now without Beanie Wells (turf toe) and Williams, who are fantasy owners  and the Cardinals to turn to?

Now with Wells and Williams down for the count, 3rd string RB LaRod Stephens-Howling should step in as the Cardinals RB. Stephens-Howling has already served as the Cardinals kickoff returner, but was ineffective as a runner. On 12 carries he has a brutal 1 rushing yard which resulted in a touchdown. Now I can’t blame this all on Stephens-Howling as the Cardinals offensive line is downright laughable. Another problem for Stephens-Howling could be William Powell. Powell has turned into the Cardinals RB in no huddle situations, which would cut into Stephens-Howlings’ carries. The Cardinals RB situation is a mess, and with that offensive line it is almost impossible to gain positive yardage. In the end though, if you asked me to pick a Cardinals RB I would say lard Stephens-Howling.

I know there are several fantasy football fans who play in deep leagues, not the standard 10 or 12 team leagues, but up to 16 or 20 team leagues. I bring this up because unless you are playing in one of these leagues, you shouldn’t touch the Cardinals RB’s. If you are in a 12 team PPR league, then a case could be made for Stephens-Howling, but he shouldn’t see your lineup unless you are incredibly desperate on a bye week.
