Are the New York Jets really setting up QB Mark Sanchez to fail? After learning that veteran WR Santonio Holmes has suffered a Lisfranc injury and will likely be out for the season, the Jets needed to add another receiver to the roster. The usual stable of veteran names cropped up; Plaxico Burress, Terrell Owens and Chad Johnson. New York has reportedly signed, wait for it…….Jason Hill. That has been confirmed by Adam Schefter on Twitter this morning.
Hill has played five seasons in the NFL spending time with San Francisco 49ers, Jacksonville and was signed by the Denver Broncos this offseason before being released. He has only played a complete 16-game season. His best season came in 2008 with 30 receptions 317 yards and two scores.
So, with this signing, the Jets now have added another third tier wide receiver to their roster. It remains a mystery to me why the Jets wouldn’t re-sign veteran Plaxico Burress. He was effective last season for New York. This signing of Hill is very curious.
I am thinking more and more that this team is moving towards the direction of starting Tim Tebow under center, and soon. New York might be 2-2 currently, but you just get the sense that this season is going to spiral out of control, quickly.
