The Cleveland Browns will be without two wide receivers when they take the field against the New York Giants on Sunday afternoon. After being listed as doubtful this week, WR Mohamed Massaquoi and Travis Benjamin have already been ruled out and did not make the trip with the team to New York. Both players are suffering from hamstring injuries.
This will give rookie QB Brandon Weeden even fewer targets in his offense as the Browns will likely pair up Greg Little with Josh Gordon as the receivers against the Giants. Rookie Josh Gordon will also see a larger role for the Browns this afternoon due in part to the fact that Josh Cribbs suffered a head injury last week against the ravens. Cribbs was knock out of the game 10 minutes into the first quarter. He is listed as probable currently.
The Browns receiving corps has not been one of the team’s strong points this season, or last for that matter. Taking away Massaquoi from the lineup will be a big blow to the Browns. Gordon has just seven receptions in 14 targets for 93 yards while Greg Little continues to struggle with dropped passes.
In related Browns news, if rookie RB Trent Richardson scores a rushing touchdown this afternoon, he will become the first Browns rookie running back to score in four consecutive games in franchise history.
