The Baltimore Ravens lost two key pieces of their defense last Sunday when CB Lardarius Webb and LB Ray Lewis were lost for the season due to injuries. This week, the Ravens defense could see one of their most important defenders return to the field, LB Terrell Suggs.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports this morning that sources have told him that Suggs is targeting a return to the field this Sunday as the Ravens take on the Houston Texans. Suggs returned to the practice field for the first time on Wednesday after suffering an Achilles injury in April.
His return to the field this quickly after suffering his injury would be a remarkable return to the field in just six months after tearing his Achilles. His original return to the field was speculated to be in mid-November.
Sources have told Schefter that family and friends of Suggs are planning to attend the Ravens game in Houston this weekend.
In related news, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers saw DE Da’Quan Bowers return to the field for practice on Wednesday as well after rupturing his right Achilles tendon. Bowers will not play for the Buccaneers on Sunday but he told reporters he feels great after his first practice.
UPDATE: As the morning has progressed, Jason LaCanfora is now reporting that Suggs is refuting the ESPN report by Adam Schefter and that he has no plans to have family attend the Houston game.
