The Oakland Raiders backfield has been struck by the injury bug. RB Darren McFadden (ankle) will likely not play this week when the Raiders host the New Orleans Saints. Earlier this week Fox Sports insider Jay Glazer reported that the Raiders initially thought that McFadden would be out 2-4 weeks while dealing with his high ankle sprain. He will not play this week and should be considered at least doubtful for next week’s contest as well.

Fellow Raiders running back Mike Goodson is also dealing with an ankle injury and has not practiced this week. On Thursday, Goodson was seen on the sidelines at practice in a boot.

Both players suffered their respective injuries two weeks ago in a loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fantasy owners looking for a possible flex play this week should look at Marcel Reece. Reece and the Raiders have a favorable fantasy matchup this week against the 32nd ranked Saints run defense. New Orleans is allowing 162 yards on the ground per game.

Reece has posted respectable numbers in his replacement of McFadden and Goodson. Against the Buccaneers, Reece showcased his pass catching skills with eight receptions for 95 yards and one score. Last week, Reece carried the ball a little more and racked up 104 total yards.

I could envision Reece totaling 80 yards and recording a score in this Sunday’s game. If you are stuck for a flex player this week, Reece could fit the bill for you.
