The NFL and fantasy football seasons are heading into the final month of play. This season has simply flown by. Hopefully you’ve been able to get your team into contention for a championship run in the final weeks of the season. Due to injuries, you might have to scouring the waiver wire to find some additional help. Most fantasy football waiver wires are picked over at this point in the season, but looking over the ESPN fantasy rankings, there might be a few players remaining that can help you in the final weeks.
San Francisco 49ers Colin Kaepernick– Kaepernick received his second career start in a win over the New Orleans Saints and recorded his second win. The starting job has not been handed to Kaepernick yet, but he’s only owned in 27% of ESPN leagues with the Rams looming.
Jacksonville Jaguars Chad Henne– I never thought I’d be suggesting the addition of a Jaguars quarterback, but Henne has this team’s offense rolling. He has over 600 passing yards in the last two weeks with six touchdowns and only one interception while the team has scored 61 points in his two starts. Owned in just 6% of fantasy leagues.
Green Bay Packers Greg Jennings– Jennings will be active this week and while he should already be on a fantasy roster, ESPN shows he’s only on 84% of current rosters. It’d be worth a look to see if he’s available.
Jacksonville Jaguars Cecil Shorts– Shorts has become a big-time playmaker for the Jaguars. He is averaging 20.8 yards per reception. Shorts has three 100-yard games in the last five weeks and has scored in three straight weeks. Only owned in 51% of leagues.
San Diego Chargers Donario Alexander– Alexander has quickly become Philip Rivers favorite receiver. He has 26 targets in the last three weeks with 304 yards and three scores. Only on 27% of ESPN rosters.
Indianapolis Colts T.Y. Hilton– Hilton is emerging as a playmaker for the Colts. He posted 2 100-yard games in the last four weeks and three touchdowns in the last two games. He is only owned in 25% of leagues.
Denver Broncos Knowshon Moreno– Be careful with this pick. Moreno has burned my teams over the past few seasons. Moreno got the start after Willis McGahee landed on injured reserve. He totaled 111 yards against a horrible Chiefs team and should be the starter going forward with Ronnie Tillman seeing some action. Not a great matchup this week going against the top ranked Buccaneers run defense. Currently on 4.2% of rosters.
New York Giants David Wilson– Andre Brown suffered a broken fibula last night. With Brown’s injury, Wilson will see an expanded role despite his struggles with pass protection and ball security. He could see significant carries moving forward. Owned in 39% of leagues.
