The Tampa Bay Buccaneers allowed a great opportunity to move into the wildcard playoff race yesterday against the Atlanta Falcons to slip away. Despite not taking advantage of losses of the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, and Dallas Cowboys, the Buccaneers now are facing an uphill battle for the remainder of the season.CB Eric Wright was out of the lineup yesterday against the Falcons while dealing with an Achilles injury, he will now be out of the lineup for the Buccaneers after being slapped with a league imposed 4-game suspension after he tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs.

Reports suggest that Wright will offer up an explanation for his positive test, sort of along the lines of the reported positive tests for PED’s that Seattle Seahawks corners Richard Sherman and Brandon Browner will be facing.

The loss of Wright is going to be a major blow in the coming weeks. Tampa Bay will now line up the porous secondary that faced the Atlanta Falcons last week as they line up against the Denver Broncos in week 13. Wright will now not be able to return until week 17.

The Buccaneers have been exceptional on offense this season, but have struggled on the defensive side of the ball against the pass. With games upcoming against Peyton Manning, Drew Brees and another game against Matt Ryan, post season hopes for the Buccaneers need to be tempered.
