The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are preparing for their date against the Alabama Crimson Tide in the BCS Championship game, but they just got some good news away from the field. Head coach Brian Kelly just landed the No. 2 running back in America in Greg Bryant, who committed to the Fighting Irish after his official visit this past weekend, according to sources that include his father.
Bryant is only ranked behind Kelvin Taylor by most scouts. Taylor already has committed to play for the Florida Gators.
In the end, Bryant chose the Irish over the Auburn Tigers, Georgia Bulldogs, Oklahoma Sooners and South Carolina Gamecocks. He is the 22nd verbal commitment in Notre Dame’s recruiting class of 2013, making it one of the best in the country already.
In fact, many already rank the Irish in the top five, so the commit from Bryant will likely strengthen that number even more.
Bryant had committed to Oklahoma earlier this year but decided to re-open things this summer. Seeing how well the Irish have played this season, along with the fact that Notre Dame will lose Theo Riddick and Cierre Wood after this season must have played a part in his decision to choose the Irish.
A BCS Championship may make things even sweeter in South Bend.
