The New York Jets have announced that Mark Sanchez will be the team’s starting quarterback against the Buffalo Bills in the Week 17 regular season finale on Sunday. Head coach Rex Ryan announced the move this morning.
Ryan also announced that Greg McElroy, who had started last week, is “definitely out” for the finale on Sunday against the Bills. He has a concussion, which was most likely suffered during one of his 11 sacks last weekend in a 24-14 loss against the San Diego Chargers.
Ryan did not say as to whether or not Tim Tebow would be active or if he would see the field. It was rumored that Tebow asked out of the wildcat package plays that the Jets used last Sunday against the Chargers, although Tebow says those reports are false. Wide receiver Jeremy Kerley was used in those sets instead.
