We head into week 16 of the NFL regular season, and it’s time to look at the weather forecasts for cities hosting games this afternoon. A major storm system moved across mid-week creating strong storms in the Gulf Coast region and dumping large amounts of snow in regions from the mid-west to New England. That storm system has moved off the coast as high pressure builds in behind it. Given the fact that we are just two days away from Christmas, weather will not be a factor in many of the games played this afternoon. In fact, only one game will see precipitation on Sunday, Seattle.
The storm system which moved across the nation this week, dumped 10 inches of snow in the Green Bay region. The team put a call out to fans to help in snow removal in the stadium. In Green Bay this afternoon, as in most of the contests this afternoon, it will be sunny. A high of 24 is expected.
Kansas City will be 38 and sunny while Pittsburgh will see sunny skies and a high of 35 where the Steelers host the Cincinnati Bengals in a game with huge playoff implications. In another game with serious playoff expectations, a high of 44 is expected in Baltimore with sunny skies.
The Carolina Panthers will see clear skies with a high of 56 while Jacksonville will be clear as well with a high of 61.
Sunny skies are expected in New Jersey where the Jets host the San Diego Chargers with a high of 42 forecast.
A cold front exited the Florida peninsula on Friday, bringing unseasonably cool temperatures. A hard free warning was issued for the Tampa Bay region this morning but the mercury will climb to around 68 as the Buccaneers host the St. Louis Rams in the final home game of the season. The Miami Dolphins are hosting the Buffalo Bills in their final home game of the season as well and the region will see a high of 72 with clear skies.
The Denver Broncos are hosting the Cleveland Browns and a high of 46 with sun is in the forecast as the Broncos continue to prepare for post-season play.
The only game where weather will play a role will be this evening as the Seattle Seahawks host the San Francisco 49ers in one of the afternoon’s best matchups. A high of 43 with a low of 37 is forecast with a 60% chance of rain.
