The Baltimore Ravens are expected to sit RB Ray Rice this afternoon when they take on the Cincinnati Bengals. Both teams have qualified for post-season play, but a win by the Baltimore Ravens does nothing to improve their current four seed in the playoffs. ESPN’s Adam Schefter confirms that Rice will not play this afternoon.

Rice has enjoyed running against the Cincinnati Bengals defense. In his last three games against the Bengals Rice has rushed for 439 yards and six scores.

Fantasy Implications- If you have Rice on your roster, you’ll need to head over to the waiver wire and pick up Bernard Pierce. Even if Rice had started the game this afternoon, it is likely that he would not have played more than a few series anyway. Pierce would most likely have led the Ravens in carries this afternoon, now it’s definite that he will. Pierce posted nice numbers last week, rushing for 123 yards on 14 carries, numbers bolstered by a 78-yard run. The Bengals run defense has been tough in recent weeks, holding three of their last four opponents to 50 rushing yards or less.
