University of Hawaii cornerback and kick returner Mike Edwards will not be returning for his senior season, announcing on Wednesday that he will be entering the 2013 NFL Draft. Edwards is the University of Hawaii’s all-time kickoff return leader and was voted the Mountain West Conference Special Teams Player of the year.

Edwards issued a press release, stating, “It was a tough decision, one of the toughest decisions I’ve had to make in my life. God was with me throughout the whole situation. I met with my family, Coach Ted Ginn, Coach Norm Chow, and those closest to me to help me come to this decision. It came down to what God wanted me to do and what my family needed me to do.”

Edwards leaves the University of Hawaii with 2,301 career kickoff return yards. In 2012, Edwards led the nation in kickoff yardage with 1,215 total yards.
