The NFL announced on Tuesday that New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton has been reinstated and he can now return to his duties as Saints head coach. According to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, former Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams has also been reinstated and is free to look for work in the NFL.

Williams was hired as the defensive coordinator of the St. Louis Rams prior to his suspension over his involvement in the Saints Bountygate scandal. Williams will not be returning to the Rams, he, along with his son, were released from the Rams last season.

Although he has been cleared to return to the league, it remains to be seen if another team will roll the dice with Williams. He might need to remain out of football for at least another year until the dust settles regarding the Bountygate issue.
