The Dallas Cowboys fired defensive coordinator Rob Ryan earlier this week. Ryan told reporters that he would be unemployed for about five minutes before landing another job in the NFL. Several rumors suggested that Ryan would join his brother Rex in New York with the Jets in need of a defensive coordinator, but that reunion is likely not to happen now. Reports are suggesting this evening that Rob Ryan will assume the coordinator role with the St. Louis Rams.

Ryan was a victim of some house cleaning by Cowboys owner Jerry Jones this week. The Cowboys moved quickly to replace Ryan, hiring former Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin.

Ryan joins a young, aggressive defensive unit in St. Louis. The Rams led all teams in sacks in the 2012 regular season with 52. The Cowboys finished the regular season ranked 19th overall despite a plethora of injuries. St. Louis ended the season ranked 14th overall in team defense for the regular season.
