Rob Ryan was one of the first coaches to be fired by the Dallas Cowboys as they make offseason changes. The brash Ryan told reporters that he would be unemployed for “like five minutes.” In reality, Rob Ryan has been unemployed for a few weeks now, and has really generated little interest around the league. On January 12, rumors suggested that Ryan was going to be hired by the St. Louis Rams.

Shortly after those rumors surfaced, both the Rams and Ryan, who was on vacation at the time, denied the reports.

Now, it appears that Ryan and the Rams have had some dialogue. Jason LaCanfora reported on Twitter that the two sides have met but that Ryan left St. Louis without a formal contract offer. The Rams are discussing adding a defensive coordinator to fill the vacancy created by Gregg Williams being suspended by the league at the start of the regular season.

Ryan is the only candidate to interview for the position this offseason.

There was immediate speculation after being released, that Rob would be joining his brother Rex in New York with the Jets, but that speculation was dismissed.
