A player that several analysts have pegged as a top-five prospect in the 2013 NFL Draft did not work out at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis. Utah DT Star Lotulelei and his agent announced that he will not participate in any drills at the Combine after it was determined that he has a heart condition. His agent, Bruce Tollner told reporters that his client will seek advice from a heart specialist later this week.
During a physical examination, it was discovered Lotulelei is suffering from a heart abnormality regarding his left ventricle, a chamber in his heart. The chamber was reportedly only pumping at 44% efficiency where normally 55-70 percent is considered acceptable.
Tollner told reporters that Combine officials asked him to suspend workouts at the event until seeking medical advice.
Lotulelei has been the consensus top ranked defensive tackle on the board this year and depending on what doctors find after further examination, his condition could cause a massive shakeup in the top five or even top 10 players chosen in the upcoming lottery.
