Denver Broncos running back Knowshon Moreno has reportedly undergone a knee surgery. Moreno underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee after the conclusion of the Broncos season head coach John Fox revealed on Thursday while speaking to reporters at the NFL Combine. This is the second procedure on his right knee, he underwent ACL surgery in 2011.
Moreno stepped in and assumed the role of the primary running back for the Broncos after Willis McGahee sustained a knee injury.
Fox revealed to reporters that Moreno underwent a stem cell procedure on his knee, injecting the cell from his pelvis into his knee prior to undergoing surgery.
Moreno is currently under contract with the Broncos through 2013 but Denver does hold an option on the back for the 2014 season before heading to free agency in 2015. The 2014 option requires the team to pay Moreno $5 million in 2014, which is unlikely. He finished the 2012 season rushing for 528 yards and scoring four touchdowns.
