ESPN announced Thursday the schedule for the fourth season of the widely popular series, Gruden’s QB Camp. The series features interviews with the former coach and quarterbacks that are slated to enter the upcoming NFL Draft. Players go through an interview process with Gruden and then hold a workout at his Tampa, FL office which is home to what he calls the FFCA or Fired Football Coaches Association.
The show has become very successful and actually has had a little impact in the NFL Draft. Several years ago, Gruden interviewed Auburn quarterback Cam Newton and Newton couldn’t rattle off one play from the Auburn playbook, a move that raised some eyebrows in football circles.
This season the show is expanding to players other than quarterbacks, he is inviting three non-quarterbacks to his office this season. OT Luke Joeckel from Texas A&M, a player that has the potential to be the first overall pick in the draft. He has invited RB Marcus Lattimore of South Carolina. Lattimore is rehabbing from a horrific knee injury he suffered this season. Gruden will also be interviewing Notre Dame LB Manti Te’o. No word on whether or not anyone will be accompanying Te’o to the interview.
Gruden will interview nine quarterbacks this season; Matt Barkley (USC), Tyler Bray (Tennessee), Zac Dysert (Miami of Ohio), Mike Glennon (N.C. State), Landry Jones (Oklahoma), E.J. Manuel (Florida State), Ryan Nassib (Syracuse), Geno Smith (West Virginia) and Tyler Wilson (Arkansas).
The first episode is scheduled to air April 4 at 8:30 EST on ESPN2.
