The Percy Harvin saga continues with a new report suggesting that the wide receiver might be seeking a deal worth $12 million per year. Now Harvin is a talented player, but character and injury issues will likely prevent the receiver from landing a contract that he might desire. The number he reportedly is looking at is what Larry Fitzgerald and Calvin Johnson currently earn and they are worth it. Harvin is not.

According to ESPN Minnesota, league officials believe Harvin wants at least $10 million but more towards the $12 million dollar figure. Harvin is in the last year of his contract and wants a new deal. He has threatened to hold out but after reportedly blowing up at head coach Leslie Frazier during the season, the receiver could be on the trade block.

The $12 million dollar figure along with the fact that Harvin will likely require a high draft choice to pry away from the Vikings might give many teams pause about pulling the trigger on such a trade.

Teams have to wonder also if the boatload of guaranteed money and annual salary that they would likely have to hand over to Harvin will finally satisfy the temperamental receiver.

One of the teams that drew early speculation for a potential interest in Harvin was the New England Patriots. Head coach Bill Belichick has made no secret about his fondness for Harvin but I would think the Patriots step back away from a possible $12 million dollar price tag.
