In what should come as little shock, the New York Jets have signed veteran free agent quarterback David Garrard according to several reports. This move has been in the works for many days now. Reports had suggested that Garrard might have wanted to return to the Miami Dolphins. Garrard was with the Dolphins last preseason but was eventually released prior to the start of the regular season. Garrard may have been weighing his options, but the Dolphins re-signed QB Matt Moore, closing the door on a possible return to South Beach.

Garrard did not play in the regular season last year and his signing gives the cash-strapped Jets a veteran to challenge QB Mark Sanchez in training camp for the starting job. The 35-year old could very well end up wrestling the starting job away from Sanchez at some point this season, reports suggested that he looked very good last year as a member of the Dolphins in camp.
